The Federal Government has described as false, allegations that the United States (US), France or any other countries want to establish their foreign military based in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government urged the general public to totally disregard the falsehood.

“The Federal Government is not in any such discussion with any foreign country,” the minister said.

Idris went on to explain that the government has not received any proposals from any country “on the establishment of any foreign military bases in Nigeria”.

He said the Nigerian government already enjoys foreign cooperation in tackling ongoing security challenges, adding that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to deepening these partnerships, with the goal of achieving the national security objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
